Latino Initiatives Pool
The Call for Proposals for the 2012 Latino Initiatives Pool (LIP) is now closed. We would like to thank all of the Smithsonian units that took the opportunity to apply for the $1 million pool that will support Latino initiatives in this fiscal year.
The Latino Initiatives Pool is a federally funded grant program open to Smithsonian units to support research, collections, conservation, archival work and programming that further the understanding and appreciation of Latino contributions to science, history, art and culture. Acting on the recommendations of a review panel, the Smithsonian Latino Center funds those programs and projects that demonstrate the greatest public impact and those that truly represent and highlight the Latino experience.
To date, LIP funding has supported over 300 Smithsonian projects and has awarded over $13 million. Information for the 2013 Latino Initiatives Pool will be available in late spring of 2012.
