Upcoming Cultural Expressions Workshop Fall 2013
- In the Field: Investigate and Learn (Humanities and Science Focus)
This workshop will teach students about research methods, investigation, and the scientific research process through the fields of archaeology and anthropology and an exploration of current Smithsonian Latino and Latin American-themed initiatives and collections. Students will “become” investigators for the project and learn about research methods and techniques, writing, and teamwork. The hands-on activity will include the use of multimedia teaching materials, including 3D digital objects and books, to conduct part of a research expedition focusing on one of the geographic areas represented in the Central American ceramics collection. This workshop highlights the exhibition Cerámica de los Ancestros: Central America’s Past Revealed.
How do I make a reservation? To make a group reservation, please email SLCEducation@si.edu with the subject heading referring to the name of the workshop desired. In the email, please include name and size of group, interested dates, and contact information.
